EPISODE SIX / MOVIE EPIC

Episode Six features a movie theme ‘cause I’m quite the movie buff, having watched about 200? I could count the ticket stubs that I have made habit of keeping, and I would probably discover more movies that I liked and would want to talk about here but I’m too lazy for that so the following’s going to be what I can retrieve from my memory…WORD VOMIT AHEAD: READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL OR SKIP/SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR PREVIEW !

My first favourite—A Knight’s Tale—made Heath Ledger my choice actor. I honestly can’t remember what it was about, but it was set in the medieval times and Heath’s character was the protagonist. Lead to a couple of other Heath movies to make the list, such as Ten Things I Hate About You with Julia Stiles (where I predictably bawled at the poem part) and The Dark Knight, where his portrayal of the Joker was testament to his acting prowess. If only I could see more of his works ):

I hate to admit this but I’m a fan of fairytales, and Beauty & the Beast tops the list, for Belle encompasses all the qualities I wish I had. She’s smart, kind-hearted, filial, fiercely loyal, strong, and non-superficial, which makes her beautiful. And there’s the more modern A Cinderella’s Story (Chad Michael Murray, “Prince”ton, a hilarious wicked Botox-ed stepmum, happily ever after…) and Enchanted (made everyone sing the ahx5 tune hoping to attract cockroaches and rats to clean up the house, want to make gorgeous dresses out of floral curtains)… plain fun !

How can anyone resist a magical world ! There’s Harry Potter (like I’ve said in the previous episode, for Emma Watson and the visual portrayal of Hogwarts), Stardust (takes you to an entirely different world, I really, really like this !) and The Prestige (such an exceptional plot, with very convincing characters which made it so good). I don’t know if anyone who has watched this remember this part in the movie but my heart broke when the wife of one of the twin brothers said No, today you don’t mean it when her “husband” told her he loved her, and it was because he wasn’t her husband but his twin. She never knew that, so she simply kept living with a man who seemed to love her on some days and not on others. This sounds confusing but I’m just hoping to find someone who remembers this part, anyone??

The Butterfly Effect. Fabulous storyline, equally fab Ashton Kutcher. I think this movie made me realize that perhaps some things happen for a reason and we should learn to live on with it rather than obsess with wanting to change the past. Food for the soul ! Speaking of Ashton Kutcher, I thought A Lot Like Love was pretty good too. I liked that it had a slightly offbeat feel to it, which leads to…

Indie-type movies ! 500 Days of Summer was structured in a refreshing non-chronological fashion, love the Zooey Deschanel-Joseph Gordon Levitt pairing; their chemistry is amazing ! Ah, and Juno. A plot that is very real, interesting performances by Ellen Page and Michael Cera, with the cutest songs ever.

I realise that I’m never going to finish this, and my musings are probably only interesting to the random 43985734th reader who has the exact taste in movies like me, so I spare you the verbal vomit by disclosing the rest of my list in the post that is coming up this Wednesday, 23rd December, at 2130H. Besides the gorgeous Grecian Goddess Toga Dress on the main page, which is a self-manufactured piece, you'll be spoilt for choice with the following:

Happy Holidays, do spread the lovin’ with your friends and family by snuggling up in the living room’s couch with a great holiday movie ala The Grinch ! ;)

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA
My first thought was to wear this piece like a wrap blouse, similar to a kimono top with waist ties, but this multi-way blouse is so much more than that: wear it crisscrossed at the front with a huge Gaga-esque bow behind, or even loosely knotted at the front as a layering piece ! The gauzy material, slight balloon sleeves and pleats across the top makes this piece a natural choice for a beach retreat (and even a work top, how’s that for versatility?) !
